Our middle school religious education program is following a new model this year. Instead of meeting every week of the school year like other grades, our middle school students will meet for 14 sessions; 7 in the fall semester (Sept-Dec) and 7 in the spring semester (Jan-March).
Students will have no class from December 11-January 7th. Classes will begin back on January 8th (STM).
6th Grade
The 6th graders will follow the Encounter series. Encounter is an interactive DVD based program that leads students through the Bible. The program highlights the different sections of the Bible and gives the students opportunities to go deeper on their own and spark a love for the scriptures. In addition to following the DVD and books in class the 6th grade curriculum will also be augmented with various prayer experiences. Throughout the 14 sessions instead of having regular class students will be attending mass, adoration, praying the rosary or the divine mercy chaplet. These prayer experiences are designed to build on the lessons they are learning from Encounter and give them a new faith experience.
7th Grade
The 7th graders will follow the Altaration series. Altaration is an interactive DVD based program that leads students through the Mass. The program highlights the various aspects of mass and gives the why behind what occurs at mass. In addition to following the DVD and books in class the 7th grade curriculum will also be augmented with various prayer experiences. Throughout the 14 sessions instead of having regular class students will be attending mass, adoration, and the divine mercy chaplet. These prayer experiences are designed to build on the lessons they are learning from Altaration and give them a new faith experience.
8th Grade
The 8th graders will follow the Decision Point series. Decision Point is an interactive DVD based program that leads students through what it means to be Catholic in the 21st century. This dynamic program addresses questions, concerns and situations that kids will be faced with as they grow up in a secular world. In addition to following the DVD and books in class the 8th grade curriculum will also be augmented with various prayer experiences. Throughout the 14 sessions instead of having regular class students will be attending mass and adoration. These prayer experiences are designed to build on the lessons they are learning from Decision Point and give them an experience to deepen their faith.
